There is a lot happening in Central Oregon in the the coming weeks and we want to be sure EDCO's eCon Update subscribers and members have the latest news and event information.
Third Salt Lake City Flight to Start December 1st
Delta Air Lines announced today that it will be increasing Redmond-Salt Lake City flights from two to three daily. Delta Flight 3862 will be operated by Skywest Airlines using the same 50-seat Canadair Regional Jet flown for Redmond’s other Delta flights. The announcement came after only 8 months following a successful effort by the Redmond Airport, Economic Development for Central Oregon (EDCO), Central Oregon Visitor’s Association (COVA) and the Central Oregon Air Service Task Force (COAST) to attract Delta to the Central Oregon market. Travelers may start booking flights immediately.

Opportunity for Direct Aid to Katrina Victims
Wednesday, September 28 at 8:00 pm
Over the past two weeks we have been asked by several EDCO members about what our organization, area businesses and the residents of Central Oregon can do to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Several great local efforts have been launched and there are even local volunteers serving in disaster areas along the Gulf Coast.
We would like to get the word out about a fundraising event next week, where 100% of the event production & marketing and proceeds will benefit needy families, lost children and other individuals dislocated by this natural disaster. Held at the Tower Theatre on Wednesday, September 28th, the event is being done in coordination with 28 other cities across the U.S. Remarkably, Bend will be the smallest city where one of these events will happen. Most will happen in the nation’s largest metro areas including New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, etc. Equally remarkable is the fact that Bend is currently among the top cities for local in-kind support and cash sponsorships.
Sponsored and organized by Komics Kare, the event will benefit the Houston Food Bank, National Center for Missing Children, TRAC (a faith-based disaster relief organization), the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, and Voice of the Wetlands (non-profit relief). For more information about these organizations and their work visit www.komicskare.com. The Bend event will feature six live national comic headliners as well as music by Kelly Thibodeaux of the band Etouffee coming directly from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The event will also be broadcast on big screen televisions outside the theater so that the entire community can participate in the effort.
The entirely volunteer group organizing the event is seeking $1,500 corporate sponsorships which include two tickets to the Tower Theatre show, two tickets to a VIP party at Merenda's restaurant with the comedians, and corporate recognition on t-shirts and signage.
For further questions or to help sponsor this event call Michele Emery at 312-3385. www.komicskare.com.
