Mike started his career in the human resource and professional staffing industry, holding the position of Regional Sales Manager and Human Resource consultant for Prostaff, Inc., a leading employee staffing company headquartered in Minneapolis, MN from 1990-1993. He co-founded Payroll Online in 1993 where he has served as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Business Development overseeing strategic alliances, distribution partnerships and direct sales. A student from OSU Cascade’s New Ventures class, a senior-level course in entrepreneurship in which students write business plans for start-up ventures, will present his/her business plan at PubTalk as a means to gain “real-life” experience presenting to an audience of investors and business professionals. OSU–Cascades Campus and Economic Development for Central Oregon (EDCO) partnered to develop an innovative new program connecting business students at Oregon State University’s Cascade Campus with local entrepreneurs. The program provided students with hands-on business experience and offered Central Oregon entrepreneurs the opportunity to develop well-defined business plans for their ventures. In this program, students and local entrepreneurs were given an opportunity to be “matched” to help both achieve their goals.
PubTalk will also feature an early stage company presentation by Biodegradable Food Service (www.bdfs.net), a manufacturer of biodegradable and compost able products to food service companies and industrial users. Early stage presentations, which follow the keynote speaker, provide new or start-up businesses a venue to receive feedback on products, services, marketing strategy or other integral components of the business. Presenters share ideas, experiences and strategies for success with other businesses, angel investors, and EDCO/OEF members.
