THIRD SALT LAKE CITY FLIGHT TO START DECEMBER 1ST

THIRD SALT LAKE CITY FLIGHT TO START DECEMBER 1ST

Redmond, OR— On the heels of last week’s announcement of Chapter 11 bankruptcy, Delta Air Lines announced today that it would be increasing Redmond-Salt Lake City flights from two to three daily.  Delta Flight 3862 will be operated by Skywest Airlines using the same 50-seat Canadair Regional Jet flown for Redmond’s other Delta flights.  The announcement came after only 8 months following a successful effort by the Redmond Airport, Economic Development for Central Oregon (EDCO), Central Oregon Visitor’s Association (COVA) and the Central Oregon Air Service Task Force (COAST) to attract Delta to the Central Oregon market.  Travelers may already book flights, which are now in Delta’s system, with the following schedule (new fights in bold):

Delta Connection carrier SkyWest’s schedule between Salt Lake City and Redmond/Bend:

Flight Departs Arrives
3863 Redmond/Bend at 6:45 a.m. Salt Lake City at 9:15 a.m.
3864 Redmond/Bend at 1:25 p.m. Salt Lake City at 3:55 p.m.
3864 Salt Lake City at 11:20 a.m. Redmond/Bend at 11:50 a.m.

3862* Redmond/Bend at 3:55 p.m. Salt Lake City at 6:25 p.m.
3865 Salt Lake City at 8:35 p.m. Redmond/Bend at 9:05 p.m.
*Effective December 1, 2005

Travel time to Salt Lake City on the regional jet is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.

“We are very pleased with customer response for these flights.  The Central Oregon market has been great since day one,” said Russell Cason with Delta Air Lines Corporate Communications.  “The area has definitely exceeded our expectations.”

Airport Manager Carrie Novick was ecstatic about the news.  “Flights have been very full, so this comes as a welcome development, especially as we come into the holiday seasons – one of our busiest times of the year,” she said.

Economic Development for Central Oregon Director Roger Lee is also excited about the news.  “We have been hearing from travel bank participants and other travelers that it has been hard to find flights to and from Salt Lake,” he said.  “This will definitely help with increasing both the inventory of seats and scheduling options.”

Salt Lake City is Delta’s third largest hub with 125 daily flights to 64 locations in the U.S., while Delta’s commuting partner, SkyWest Airlines, has an additional 156 additional departures.
